Dr. Samar Nahas was inspired to pursue medicine at a young age while caring for her mother during her battle with breast cancer associated with a BRCA mutation. This deeply personal experience shaped her understanding that medicine is not only about treating disease, but also about guiding, supporting, and advocating for patients and their families through complex and challenging health journeys.
Dr. Nahas completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. She then pursued advanced fellowship training in Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Manitoba, followed by a second fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Arizona.
With a distinguished career in gynecologic surgery, Dr. Nahas has held several leadership and educational roles. She has served on the Board of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists and has contributed to advancing surgical education through SurgeryU, where she edited and reviewed surgical videos. She also serves as an ad hoc reviewer for the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology.
Dr. Nahas served as Chair of the Women’s Health Department for more than a decade, where she played a pivotal role in expanding the department and improving access to high-quality care for underserved populations. She also founded an American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists fellowship program to train future surgeons dedicated to advancing women’s health.
Today, Dr. Nahas continues this mission through her practice, providing exceptional, patient-centered care with a focus on advanced gynecologic surgery and compassionate support.
As one of the few surgeons with dual fellowship training in both Gynecologic Oncology and Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery, Dr. Nahas brings advanced expertise to the surgical management of complex gynecologic conditions.
